Lower fall leads to expectations that US home market close to bottom
Wednesday February 27, 2008
There is speculation that due to a lower fall in housing sales in January that the US home market may be near to bottoming, good news for beleaguered US mortgage companies.
Forecast as falling 1.8 per cent, the market only suffered a 0.4 per cent loss in January, the sixth month in a row to see a loss returned.
Home loan providers are still likely to remain under scrutiny in the US even if the market picks up, as they will need to re-establish themselves in new market conditions.
