Australian mortgage companies are not as quick to lend money as American mortgage companies were leading up to their sub-prime mortgage crisis. With rates rising as quickly as they are, they are likely to become even more reserved than normal in giving out mortgages. Be sure that you can present only a minimal credit risk before approaching mortgage companies in order to maximise your chances of being offered a good value mortgage.
